Kala All Solid Mahogany Concert Ukulele is solid wood, so it's in the center of the spectrum. It is much less compact than most hardwoods, such as rosewood and other tropical dark woods, and denser than spruce and cedar softwoods. This became the ukulele sound early on. This provides a concentrated tone. Thicker in the mid-low and mid-high. It is less vibrant in tone as a peak, or soundboard, than softwoods, but more punchy in the center. The hardwood top is always too dense and does not sound open. Nearly any Martin Ukulele was a whole body of mahogany. So, it is used to produce focused sounds. All mahogany is one of the finest tonewoods but correctly finished. Kala‘s all-solid mahogany range is its most traditional set of ukes and also the cheapest of its all solid ukes. The Concert ukulele is one size bigger than the soprano ukulele. For a solid mahogany ukulele, they represent good value for money.
